How it Happens

The criminal starts by choosing a title from public record to steal such as yours.

The criminal pulls a copy of your general warranty deed to determine how you hold title.

Associated with your deed is your mortgage containing your signature(s).

A fraudulent deed showing sale of your property to the criminal is created.

Your signatures are fraudulently copied from the mortgage to the forged deed.

A notary’s signature is either used or faked to make the false document appear real.

Fake documents are recorded with the Clerk’s office becoming public record.

The criminal owns your property and you are completely unaware of the crime.

Now the criminal can secure a new loan against or sell your property out from under you.
